Coming off a big win over No. 12 Virginia Tech on Thursday, its second ranked win of the season, the No. 16 Duke women's basketball team (18-2, 8-1) travels to No. 24 Florida State (18-5, 7-3).
The Seminoles rank third in the ACC standings whereas the Blue Devils rank first. Much like Duke, FSU played a ranked opponent early in the week, however, it ultimately fell to No. 7 Notre Dame 70-47. FSU has been a tough team to handle this season though. It has wins over No. 15 UNC and No. 20 NC State. The Noles also played with 8 points of No. 5 UConn (who beat Duke by 28 in November).
FSU is led in scoring by the high volume bucket getting freshman Ta'Niya Latson at 23 PPG. Stopping the guard will be Duke's first defensive priority. Luckily for Duke, it has a scorching guard itself to help match Latson. Shayeann Day-Wilson has been great for Duke as of late, including a 24 point performance at UNC.
Duke shut down VT's Elizabeth Kitley, the reigning ACC Player of the Year, so there is reason to believe they have the ability to do so again with Latson.
If Duke can pick up a second Marquee win this week, it could mean a solid jump in next week's poll and a projected 2-seed for the Blue Devils.
