Class of 2023

*Holds offer from Duke*

Power committed to Duke on Sept. 7, 2022.

Rising rapidly through the ranks over the past few weeks, 6'8 forward TJ Power has put the world of basketball on notice. Power was recently named the Defensive MVP of Peach Jam after averaging 1.4 SPG and 1.6 BPG. He coupled that with over 15 PPG, nearly 9 RPG, and nearly 5 APG. Power is a versatile forward who told Joe Tipton of On3 that he enjoyed watching other high school players on the AAU circuit growing up like future Blue Devils Cam Reddish and Marvin Bagley III. Power believes that he can be plugged in to various lineups in versatile ways. The forward is quickly rising up the ranks and has become Duke's top remaining target for the class of 2023.

Power visited Duke in late July, and is one of only two active offers out in the class of 2023 for the Blue Devils. Jon Scheyer's chances are looking good here, but the momentum has not yet swayed all the way to Duke. I have scoured over YouTube clips of Power's game and found the best ones to highlight his game so you do not have to and will provide my own personal thoughts on each:

Breakdown: In this short clip, one thing is abundantly clear: he can really shoot. Not only is his form good, it is quick off the dribble or off the catch. The release is quick and high which is incredibly valuable from a forward with the ability to shoot over smaller defenders. His shot noticeably has a soft touch too. He exhibits an ability to finish through traffic and is active on following his shot and crashing the offensive glass.

Breakdown: Much of the same offensive skillset on display here. It is refreshing to see a young prospect who operates in the midrange so much. His jump shot is pure, but not solely from three. Perhaps the best part about Power is his defensive activity. He is a player with this level of shooting ability that won Peach Jam Defensive MVP. Many stretch fours struggle to defend, but with Power that will hopefully not be the case at the next level.
