Commitments are ramping up as the 2022-2023 season quickly approaches. Although the Blue Devils have not received a commitment this summer, there is plenty to discuss in terms of offers, visits, tournaments, and more. In the short amount of time since the last recruiting update there has been enough recruiting news to write another, so without further ado, here's the update:
Nike EYBL Peach Jam
The Circuit announced that Duke commit Caleb Foster was named the PIT Offensive MVP after averaging 25.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 4.7 APG. It was an impressive summer for Duke's first pledge of the class of 2023. Foster filled up the stat sheet game in and game out. Despite a fall in ranking during his junior year, Foster's play in EYBL helped catapult him back up (see On3 Rankings header).
Recent Duke offer TJ Power was named the PIT Defensive MVP after averaging 15.3 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 4.9 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 1.6 BPG. If Duke receives a commitment from Power, they would round out their number one class with a stud on both ends of the floor.
On3 Ranking Update
Following Peach Jam, On3 recently updated their recruiting rankings for the class of 2023. Here's how Duke's commits faired: Mackenzie Mgbako (who recently announced he will transfer to Roselle Catholic HS for his senior year in High School) jumped back into the top 3 of the class at #3, Caleb Foster shot back up to just outside the top 10 at #14, Jared McCain improved to #18, and Sean Stewart fell a few places to #19 (likely due to hype from Peach Jam and Stewart playing for an Under Armor sponsored team). Target TJ Power jumped 44 spots from 65 all the way up to #21. Recent offer Andrej Stojakovic fell a few spots from 31 to #35.
Elite 24
Commit Sean Stewart will play in the Under Armor Elite 24 game next Friday August 12th on ESPNU at 5 pm ET. Also playing in Elite 24 are class of 2024 offers Bryson Tucker and Tre Johnson.
Andrej Stojakovic
Last Friday, Stojakovic cut his list to just six schools. The recently offered son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic included Duke in his final six alongside Stanford, Virginia, Oregon, Texas, and UCLA. At the moment, UCLA may be considered the favorite.
Dylan Harper
Monday it was announced that Duke had extended an offer to 2024 5 star guard Dylan Harper, the son of former NBA champion Ron Harper and brother of Rutgers standout Ron Harper Jr. Dylan said it was a dream come true to receive the offer from the Blue Devils.
This offer is especially interesting, not only because of Harper's own talent, but because he has discussed trying to team up with number one overall prospect in the class of 2024 Naasir Cunningham in college.
