The Duke men's basketball team came in at No. 8 in this week's AP Top 25. The Blue Devils dropped one spot from seventh last week after suffering a loss to the then No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks (KU is now ranked third).
This week's poll saw a lot of movement after a flurry of ranked matchups. UNC remains atop the standings, Houston and Kansas move up to fill out the top three. After a big win over Gonzaga, Texas moves up to fourth, and after two big wins over Baylor and Illinois, Virginia moved up eleven spots to No. 5.
Gonzaga and Baylor dropped to fifth and sixth after losses. Both teams minimized the bleeding by picking up top 10 wins of their own; Gonzaga over Kentucky, and Baylor over UCLA.
Duke's Dec. 6 matchup with Iowa may be a ranked matchup between the two as the Hawkeyes debuted at No. 25 this week.
The ACC has just three teams ranked, but all three are ranked in the top eight (UNC- 1, UVA- 5, Duke- 8).
